Why is this site called kasaubon.com?
There isn't really a very good answer to this question. So I might as well tell the truth.
A while ago I needed a username for a LiveJournal account.
I chose casaubon. This came from two sources:
- The main character from Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco.
- The main character from several of Mary Gentles' books.
When I needed a website domain name I naturally looked for casaubon.com, but it had already been taken. I then suffered from a failure of imagination and with a little prompting from someone chose kasaubon.com.
There, very dull, but now I'm stuck with it.
